Non communicable or chronic diseases are diseases of long duration and generally slow progression. The four main types of non-communicable diseases are cardiovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes. A combination of genetic, physiological, lifestyle and environmental factors can cause these diseases. Some non-communicable diseases are more common than others. Non communicable diseases, are by far the leading cause of death in the world, representing 63% of all annual deaths. Non communicable diseases kill more than 36 million people each year.
